Meet The Instructors

Les is the boss but if you are paddling with him near rocks, reef  or big waves Don't follow Les  or you will end up swimming (the team)

Tell William is a Level 3 Advanced Instructor and my main paddle partner on expeditions. When on big expeditions and things are looking dodgy, Tel is the person you want next to you. Like on this day, Tel is pictured above (the little yellow dot in amongst the spray) on a big swell day east of Esperance behind an island that the waves are crashing over.

Stevo is our crash test dummy. When you look at a place and go "Hmm looks dodgy " we send in Stevo. If he comes out smiling or with a grin on his face you definitely don't go there.

Simon and Zoe are our intellectuals, as they have more letters after their name than in their name. This is very handy at overnight camps as you can ask questions like "What is interfacial tension" and they know the answer.

Brad is a big bloke with a big heart, a big smile and big laugh. He is not a natural athlete and has had to struggle with all his skills. For that reason he empathises with people who learn slower. Brad will end up being our best instructor.

Ian is our wanderer and has spent 8 years wandering the globe. He has paddled in Australia, Norway, Uganda, Canada, England, France, Corsica and Slovenia. If you want info on the world forget the atlas just ask Ian - he is bound to have been there.

Rod is our "Gay American". The fact he is not gay and not American is irrelevant.
Being an ex-bank manager and ex-bushwalking/ ski rescue, he is a very responsible and competent instructor who needed a more flamboyant title.
You’ll notice Rod around, he wears some really weird bandannas. Sorry Rod !! hah,hah
